Course Descriptions:

Jurisprudence – The Legal Basis of Physical Therapy Practice - This course covers legal issues in physical therapy and the Tennessee Practice Act and Rules Governing the Practicing of Physical Therapy.


Course Objectives:

Jurisprudence – The Legal Basis of Physical Therapy Practice:

  • Describe the purpose of the Practice Act and Rules.

  • Recognize the types of disciplinary action that may be taken against a licensee.

  • Describe offenses that may lead to disciplinary action.

  • Explain the rules of supervision for PTA's and other personnel.

  • Describe the Practice Act and Rules related to the definition & scope of practice, disclosures, & administrative requirements.

  • Recognize that there are legal issues and obligations in addition to the Practice Act and Rules that affect physical therapy practice.

You will have one week (7 days) to take the course. 

Once you have completed the two hour course, completed and passed the post test, an evaluation form will be emailed for completion. When all criteria are met, your certificate will be mailed to you.
