What’s New on The Hill

New Department of Health Data Reporting

The Tennessee Department of Health has updated COVID-19 metrics shared on the state’s COVID-19 Dashboard. The Department will now publish cases as “Inactive/Recovered” instead of “Recovered” to better reflect the end of the infectious period of the virus. The Centers for Disease Control recently determined that most patients are not infectious after 10 days.

Specific county data will now also be reported, including case counts, hospitalizations, and testing, and a new critical indicators report will be available online to help stakeholders monitor COVID-19 healthcare capacity data trends. GOP Confirms Mannis as Republican Nominee for State Rep.

The Republican State Executive Committee (SEC) confirmed this week that Eddie Mannis won the August 6 Republican Primary for House Seat 18, despite the challenge filed by his opponent, Gina Oster. Mannis won the election by 99 votes against Oster, who challenged the outcome based on Democratic crossover voting.

The SEC approved his candidacy 43-18 on a conference call Tuesday night, and Mannis will now face Virginia Couch in the November General Election.
